Dallas Buyers Club

There are 100,000 people living with HIV in the UK, and 34 million world-wide. On World AIDS Day we presented a FREE event in conjunction with Cardiff Institute of Infection and Immunity.
In 1985 Dallas, electrician and hustler Ron Woodroof works around the system to help AIDS patients get the medication they need after he is himself diagnosed with the disease.
Following the film we presented a FREE drinks reception with refreshments and a panel discussion. We explored patient care, stigma, understanding the disease and clinical trials. The panel will included:
> Sarah Fuhrmann from HIV & Hepatitis Action Wales, Terrence Higgins Trust Cymru,
> Dr Lisa El Refaie, Centre for Language and Communication Research, School of English, Communication and Philosophy,
> Maurice O'Brien, School of Heathcare Sciences and
> Professor Kerry Hood, Director of the South East Wales Trials Unit.
