Contagion

As part of Human Rights Day Cardiff sciSCREEN organised a FREE event in collaboration with Cardiff Law School. Following a screening of Steven Soderbergh’s CONTAGION there was a drinks reception with refreshments and post-film discussion.
The world is faced with a fast-moving epidemic of a lethal airborne virus that kills within days. The worldwide medical community races to find a cure and control the panic that spreads faster than the virus itself. At the same time, ordinary people struggle to survive in a society coming apart.
A panel of experts from Cardiff University explored themes concerning health and human rights; biodefense and the development of medical countermeasures; global health and global justice; human rights in times of emergency and social disorder. The panel included Prof Les Baillie, Prof John Harrington, Dr Meirion Evans and Dr Bernadette Rainey.
